Reason Why Some Cats Are Born With No Tail

Have you ever seen a tailless cat? Well, if you haven’t, they do exist. Though they may not be as common as cats with tails, the Manx cat, popularly known as The Tailless’ cats, are quite large in number. They originate from the United Kingdom and are born with illnesses and deformities. So, cat lover or not, many may ask: why are some cats born without a tail?’ And the answer is quite simple. In this video, there are three reasons why this event may occur. But before we begin, make sure you take the time to like this video and subscribe to our channel because it helps out a lot. Thank you!

1. GENETIC MUTATION

Genetic mutation is the permanent alteration of a cat’s genes. Though this is harmless, it is often a contributing factor to why some cats are born without tails. The mutation occurs due to specific types of abnormalities within the cat’s genes and therefore causes the cat’s body to develop abnormally or incorrectly. In most cases, a cat that is abnormally developed is born with spine or skeleton problems which make their life a little bit harder than it should be. It is also a result of their genes and is why some of them are born without a tail.

2. CAT INBREEDING

Inbreeding in cats is one of the main reasons why some cats are born without tails. Inbreeding occurs when closely related cats are placed together to reproduce more cats of the same type, color, and gene. Inbreeding ensures that a cat’s breed is preserved and doesn’t go extinct. Though inbreeding has its good side, it also has a negative impact and does more harm than it does good. For example: when most cats are born tailless, it is usually a result of too much inbreeding. This is because inbreeding increases the health issues within cats causing them to suffer from healthrelated problems that make it impossible for their tails to grow.

3. CAT DEFORMATION

The Manx cats are sometimes born with deformities, and a part of those deformities is for the cat to be born tailless. Now, there are several reasons why these types of cats may be born with a deformity that affects the growth of their tails. Some of these reasons include but are not limited to the problems passed down to the cat before it was born, environmental issues, and inbreeding. Sometimes when Manx cats are born, the deformity is exceptionally severe, and they end up dying. However, the ones that live go on to mate with different breeds and may even reproduce and create mixed breeds.

When it all comes down to it, tailless or not, cats are one of the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing animals ever to walk the earth. To conclude what was mentioned earlier, some cats are born without a tail due to genetic mutation, inbreeding, and cat deformation. Nonetheless, it is crucial to know that though a cat may be born deformed and tailless, they usually have the ability to do most things that regular cats can do and, as such, are just as special! Remember, Tailless cats deserve love too!
