Things Are Not What They Seem. (That's the title of the episode.) Can you always believe what you see or hear? A fun one, this, and with a very good lesson: it's possible to be fooled, whether deliberately or accidentally, maliciously or innocently. So keep your wits about you! I believe this one was originally broadcast on Friday, 23rd September, 1983, meaning that the main target audience is, was, and always will be those born in the 70s or very early 80s.

I like how they use practical jokes to illustrate the point, with Bungle's suitcase taking centre stage, before the clever and slightly more serious demonstration of the orange squash. That's the sort of thing that would have intrigued me back then. The sort of thing that intrigues me now is just how unnecessarily ambitious the special effects are in Rod, Jane and Freddy's musical interlude, with plenty of elaborate transitions and blue screen action going on. George's disappointment at discovering he's not the strongest in the world made me laugh, and I also enjoyed the story Jungle Jalopy, featuring our friends Elephant, Giraffe and Monkey.

There are a few nice ads at the beginning (one featuring a particularly unexpected guest star), plus some early CITV continuity presented by Mike Reid.
