Quito (2024), officially San Francisco de Quito, is the beautiful capital of Ecuador and the province of Pichincha. The city of Quito has the largest historic city center of North and South America. It is a large city with almost 3 million citizens located high in the Ecuadorian Andes close to Cotopaxi, an active volcano of 2,850 meters (9,350 ft) high and always covered in snow. Highlights of Quito are the city center and the La Ronda street, the Church of the Society of Jesus, El Panecillo, the Carondelet Palace, La Carolina Park and Church and Convent of St. Francis.
