Making young dogs constantly “miss” the bite only teaches the dog their best effort and best KO punch are ineffective. By doing this, you’re operating in the Negative Punishment quadrant of operant conditioning. While an occasional “miss” can cause some frustration and in turn build drive, doing this rep after rep with actually make them lazy and wait for “room service”. You see the drive decreasing and you lower the criteria to insure success. This educates them to know “less effort = pay check”.
