Psychrometrics The Science of Moisture in the Air. In this Part 2 video we review the following:
Part 1 Air Mixing. Mixing air on the psychrometric chart.
Part 2 Calculating SHR. The sensible heat ratio is one of the most important HVAC aspects of the psych chart.
Part 3 Calculating CFM and sizing the airflow of the hvac system. Using the sensible heat equation to calculate air quantity in cubic feet per minute (CFM). See equation below.
Part 4 Calculating tons of refrigeration using the enthalpy of air as shown on the psychrometric chart and the total cooling equation. See equation below.
Bonus section: We discuss the psychrometric processes of air.
Takeaway equations from this webinar:
Sensible cooling (Btu/hr) = 1.085 x CFM x dT
Total cooling (Btu/hr) = CFM x 4.5 x dH
1 Ton of Refrigeration = 12,000 Btu/hr
1 BTU = Amount of heat required to raise (or lower) the temperature of one pound of water 1F
Enthalpy = sensible heat + latent heat
Get refreshed on Psychrometrics. This is a prerequisite for all future webinars. Without an understanding of vapor pressure, dew point, and grains of moisture, future webinars will be cloudy at best.
