Jim Rounds from Rounds Consulting, one of the leading economists in Arizona, presented an analysis of Pinal County's Road Maintenance Fund, assessing the community impact from an economic perspective when the County spends these funds on roads. The halfcent sales tax that supports the Road Maintenance Fund was initially authorized by voters in 1986, reauthorized in 2005, and needs to be reauthorized before it expires at the end of 2026. County Manager Leo Lew explained that at the May 1st Meeting, the Board will be asked to consider a resolution to call for an election for this reauthorization in November.
