To prepare a roller cover for painting, use painter's tape and lightly press the tape against the roller to remove any loose fibers and lint. If you are using water based paint, run the roller cover under warm water and then remove the water with a roller spinner or roller cleaner. Doing this removes any lint on the roller and helps the fibers hold paint when you initially load up the roller.
