Hiking tour from Kleifavatn lake parking to the summit of Sveifluhals Ridge above it. The descent trail from a few days ago. Sveifluhals Ridgge along with Kleifavatn Lake and Seltun Geothermal area belongs to Krysuvik Central Volcano, which is the closest to the Capital Area, some 15 km away. Yesterday we had a powerful swarm of earthquakes centered at a few km under this lake (at its southern part, closer to Seltun). earthquakes might be driven by tectonic movement as tectonic faults run through the area and might be connected to the same deep magma chamber which was behind all the eruptions of 2021 2024. The lake is some 10 km east of Fagradalsfjall.
