Your Fiero is 37 years old. The exterior is plastic (mostly SMC actually) but underneath is steel and it can absolutely rust and chances are, yours has too. Rust converters are snake oil. The correct way to deal with rust is t cut it out and weld in new steel. Painting over it makes you feel good for a little while but it will come back quickly and it does nothing for structural integrity! Stop by the shop and follow along as I tackle some RUST THROUGH to the rear strut tower.
