Police say a 53yearold teacher in St. Catharines is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a student.

Officers in the Niagara region began the investigation in May following reports of a sexual assault involving the teacher and one student at St. Catharines Collegiate Secondary School on 34 Catherine St.

Investigators say the District School Board of Niagara suspended the teacher soon after.

Gocking is scheduled to appear in a St. Catharines court Friday for a bail hearing.
