RPGs, especially simulationist games like D&D, are supposed to provide some level of challenge or uncertainty for the players. Even if the player and GM or DM don't see each other as opponents (which they shouldn't), plenty of the fun of roleplaying comes from the sense of being able to personally affect the world however you want through the lens of a fantastical character. Unfortunately, there are some times when player skill and character skill don't really get along. In this video, I attempt to illustrate how this happens and you ou can avoid it while running your games.
