Armeria, is a genus of flowering plants. These plants are sometimes known as "lady's cushion", "sea pink", or thrift! They like poor soil, dry conditions, and can handle neglect! To make them even better, they are long blooming! with some deadheading they can go from late Spring through first frost! If that isn't a reason to add this perennial to your garden, I don't know what is?! I recently bought a couple flats of these from Lowes. I'm happy to have added a drift of this thrift to my garden this year. I hope it lives here happily for years to come! I have it planted up by the road where it will be met with some harsh conditions. Living in New England (zone 6b), it will be put to the test with some road salt in winter. We will see how things go! Its also very compact and can be tucked in anywhere in a garden large or small! Would make a lovely front of the border plant. There are many varieties of this plant.
