Pio meets Joe Calderone, Creative Chef at Serendipity, and watches him make their exclusive $1,000 Golden Opulent Sundae. It starts with a $250 crystal goblet (same one used in the Vatican!) The goblet is layer with sheets of edible 24k gold. Then the first scoop of ice cream is added and layered in more gold. From there Joe adds chocolate sauce made from the worlds rarest and most expensive chocolate (amedei porcelana.) After the chocolate sauce comes MORE GOLD! He tops the sundae with gold coated almonds, candied fruit, and GOLD. This all adds up to the $1,000 price tag for this Golden Opulent Sundae.
