Photographing the Iberian Lynx with the OM-1 and 150-400mm lens at Hide de Calera in Spain. Part 1.

The Iberian or Spanish Lynx was close to extinction not long ago, but its numbers are increasing and so are the number of sites where you can photograph this wonderful cat.

We chose to visit Hides de Calera only 90 minutes from Madrid. They have hides for Lynx and various other species.

I share the hide with Belgium photographer Frederic Desmette

Using the silent shutter of the OM1 makes a big difference with a species as wary as the Lynx. No more noisy shutters and while talking of noise note that some of the pictures were taken at 6400 iso using 1/40th F4.5 in very poor light. MFT camera are supposed to be poor performers in low light!
