The Pharaoh Hound. This extremely rare specimen of a dog is quite the gracious lady. Look a little beyond that and you’ll find her a keen hunter and a vivacious chaser; this lady loves to run. Indoors she’s more true to her grace.

That passion for chasing sometimes kicks in when she comes into contact with animals or dogs she doesn’t know so well, she’s also a bit shy with strangers and can be quite reserved.

She loves any opportunity to have a good scamper, so take her somewhere safe so she can get off the lead and have a dash around. Decent daily walks on the lead are also a must. With all this excitement she’s going to want a rest, and a soft warm bed is really the best thing for her.

As a watchdog she’s pretty competent, but protection wise no; you’ll probably see her run the other way.

Interesting facts: This little dog has quite a unique trait, she’s a blusher! When she gets excited her nose and ears turn rosy red. In an account from the XIX Egyptian dynasty it is said that, “her face glows like a God and she delights to do her work.
