Penny is a special small beagle with an adorable face and distinctive persona. She enjoys wandering and romping in the fenced yard, with much sniffing. She’s eager for walks and comfortable as we pass by other dogs and their families. She gets a bit excited when a squirrel scoots by and will try to follow it up the tree. At home, she is typically quiet and close by. She likes pets and belly rubs.

As with some rescues, Penny seems to have had a hard time for her first 5 years. She was a breeder and likely had very little human contact. She arrived skittish and submissive, often cowering away from us. She warmed up day by day, at her own pace, as she became comfortable with us and this home. Her confidence and trust have grown a lot, in just a couple of weeks. As her special personality emerges, it is obvious to us that she has much joy and love to share.

We think Penny will do best with a patient family that is experienced with rescue dogs. Other positives are a fenced yard, daily walks, and an older calmer dog already in home – or no dog. We adore her, and look forward to helping her find her forever family.
