Contrary to popular belief, comfort is motorcycle suspension's secondary job. Its primary job is to ensure that the tyres are in firm contact with the road surface. This allows the rider's inputs to make a difference on what the motorcycle is doing. A suspension has two major components springs and dampers. The dampers control the compression and decompression of the springs. That gives suspension 3 properties compression, rebound, and preload.
