Part 7: USING DIGITAL ASSETS | How to Lecture in Higher Education

Using digital assets to enhance the lecture:
Don't be afraid to jump from your presentation to a realworld example and back again. It will provide a microbreak from your slides and allow your students to analyze things from different perspectives.

In today's modern world, there are plenty of digital assets that you can use in your lecture. Earlier, I mentioned data visualizations, digital illustrations, and short videos. You can show, for example, anonymized Twitter messages or library websites for the students to review and work on.

Mixing in interactive maps, 3D models, photos, or whatever will help you describe and explain things. I also think it positively affects student motivation and attention.

I'm sure you are already using different content in your classes. Hopefully, this has inspired you to spice up your traditional lecture slides with digital assets. As I said, I often do this to enhance the presentation and arguments, to make a point, or to start discussions. And, not to forget, it can also be a timesaver because the example contains information about something I otherwise had to write on the board or in my slide presentation.
