Try painting on a cotton shirt like on canvas but using fabric paints It's fun, artsy and really personal experience.

This is a speed painting demonstration of African landscape on sunset. I personally like a more creative way to decorate clothes by adding more of elements to make it a wholesome design, but for a beginner in fabric painting such "square shape" painting is also a great way to start!

buttercup
cobalt blue

purple

I chose opaque fabric paints over transparent ones, because the shirt is melange grey color, and such texture would be seen through the paints for light colored fabrics..
