P0171 Bank 1 Lean Code fix Gen 3 1998 Toyota 4Runner 3.4L 5VZFE ... my problem was not cleaning the fuel tank, upon installing new a new fuel pump, this led to the fuel pump filter clogging...

Potential causes included MAF, O2 sensors, TPS, vacuum leak, fuel pump, spark plugs, coils, wires, ignitor, ECU malfunction, clogged fuel filter, clogged air filter...

Here's how to drop the tank and swap out a fuel pump or filter (DO NOT FORGET TO THOROUGHLY CLEAN THE FUEL TANK), big thanks to Timmy The Tool Man's channel on a well done instructional video ...    • Fuel Sending Unit Replacement

Video Corrections:

1. Vehicle was purchased in 2014 with 308k mi, not 318k mi
2. Items changed, during that time:

a. front headlight bulb
b. air filter
c. fuel pump
d. fuel filter
e. 4 Bllstein shock absorbers
f. throttle position sensor
g. resurfaced rotors
h. replaced muffler and catalytic converter (due to theft, not malfunction)

* not counting cat and muffler in cost of maintenance, since they didn't fail ... I spent about $300 on a new aftermarket cat and muffler, easy bolton, due to ZERO RUST!

Total cost of parts over 8 .5 years = under $350 (sitting for 2 years in Las Vegas greatly contributed to fuel pump failure and gas tank debris) ... I performed all of the labor ... cost of ownership per year = under $42/Year + oil changes ... 4WD drive vehicle with massive offroad capabilities, comfortable on long trips, rear seats fold down flat, everything works, absolutely zero rust ... highly recommend this generation 4Runner, if you can find it ... Kindly like, share, subscribe, and ring the bell so I can keep the videos coming .. stay healthy and enjoy every day!
