In this video I break down how to work with an overfunctioning and underfunctioning couple in couples counseling. This is a pattern in relationships explained by Murray Bowen's Family Systems theory and it's something I see all the time in my therapy practice. Recognizing it though is easy once you understand the various forms it takes, so this video has a lot of examples of what the overfunctioner and underfunctioner dynamic looks like in a marriage or relationship. I also explain the Bowen model and give techniques and ideas on how to address it.
