This is a special episode posted for Remembrance Sunday 2023. Yesterday was Armistice Day.
The Armistice was an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War. It was signed 105 years ago at 5:45 am for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front, which took effect at 11:00 am

“The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918.

Unfortunately, it was not the war to end all wars that we hoped it would be.
Today, we are not celebrating or glorifying war. Today, we are remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to uphold and preserve our freedom and defeat tyranny.
In episode 14 of our Coast Adventure we highlighted the perhaps the most strategically important place from which the fight back started in World War Two Southampton on the English South Coast. To honour and remember all those who gave so much we thought we would take another look at part of that episode.

Armistice Day is known as Remembrance Day in the Commonwealth and Veterans Day in the United States.
