Lot of dental practice gurus believe that if you send preauths in your practice, it makes your practice insurance dependent.

It’s simply not true.

I do it because I want to make sure I’m going to get paid for the work I do on my patients.

Like with everything else, PreAuthorizations are a process and when there’s a process, you need a system.

If you send preAuthorizations or predetemrinations in your practice, you need to have a system where the team knows just by looking at the schedule whether or not a preauth is received.

This way your team can stay on top of whose insurance needs to be called to make sure they have all the supporting documentation to process the PreAuthorization.
