Oll An Garriow E'n Beaz (comp Francis Bennett) for 2 flatpicked Dadgad guitars

A change to my usual style of music I adore flatpicking, I'm just not as confident with it as I am fingerpicking, but when I do flatpick I love the possibilities of Dadgad tuning. Here I return to one of my favourite Cornish tunes, a Kabm Pemp (5 step) tune written by Francis Bennett in 1998 and collected by Neil Davey in his excellent collection of Cornish tunes "Fooch". The title is in Cornish and means "All the words in the world".

I think my Huss & Dalton sounds especially lovely with a pick (in this case the pick is a Red Bear Mondo Heavy model that I've owned for years). One of the nicest flatpicked voices I've ever owned (I've owned dreadnoughts by Taylor and Bourgeois in the past and this outshines them all). Not as loud as a dread probably, but I would say its a lovely rich thick sound, well balanced across the strings.

I think the pick certainly helps here this particular Red Bear is very thick, with a very rounded corner. No good for playing triplet and particularly fast articulated passages, but great for tone production.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it. I am planning on a series of flatpicking videos (perhaps I am getting a little bored of fingerstyle).
