Off-grid CARGO TRAILER Conversion living (adapting is a challenge)

Tiny House Ventures

Living in 126 square feet with no grid power or water connections, all while being nomadic and having to move your tiny house someone new every 2 weeks, can be quite the challenge. Even if you are really cozy with your significant other.

If you can't keep your body active then stress is bound to buildup. And that is exactly what has been happening to us. When we set out from my Uncle's ranch our cargo trailer conversion to tiny house was not 100% ready. Our truck bed was jammed full to the brim of STUFF. And that's saying something seeing how we have a 6 3/4 foot bed with a super high cap.

Yeah, good luck finding anything in there let alone have room to put bikes in it.

We initially designed the trailer to fit our road bikes under the bed for 3 reasons: 1) Security. Much harder for someone to break into the trailer and steal them...especially if we are in there. 2) Training. We can pull them out from under the bed and put them on an indoor trainer in the trailer if needed. 3) We thought it would be convenient enough to grab them from the trailer and get on the road quickly.

And that's where we messed up. That last point. Because we boonock in National Forests or BLM 100% of the time it means we are on usually very rough gravel roads. And our bikes are just not built for that. They are picky and demand smooth tarmac.

In this video we go through what it took for us to get onto our first bike ride since leaving Boston and the challenges that still persist.

We had an amazingly beautiful ride on a pretty hot day at over 10,000 ft in Colorado.

BUT only 1 of us made it back to the trailer on their bike! Give it a watch to find out why.
