In September 2016, I travelled to North Korea to attend the country's first ever air show; Wonsan AirShow. It was the most exotic air show I have ever attended, with a lineup of the rare Soviet vintage fleet of Air Koryo, the usual off limits of the North Korean Air Force, many joy flights on Air Koryo and the possibility to meet with North Koreans freely at the air show.

The air show was an unqualified smash hit! showing off North Korea’s aviation scene and bringing together foreign visitors and locals without hindrance, for the first time in the country’s history.
