In 2022, NordicTrack released the Elite Treadmill in addition to the beloved NordicTrack X22i Incline Trainer. In this comparison, we go over the similarities and differences between these two impressive treadmill models.

For similarities, the Elite and X22i have large 22” touch screens. The Elite is also available with a 32” touch screen, but for this review, we have the 22” touch screen. On the Elite, the screen can tilt more as well as pivot to each side, so you can see the screen on and off the treadmill. The X22i only tilts slightly to be adjusted. Both of the screens are enabled with iFit. Access to iFit’s full library is available on each screen with a subscription.

Other similarities are that they both incline up to 40% and go up to 12 mph. They have the same running surface size that is 22” x 60” so you can do all kinds of workouts from walking, hiking, jogging, running, sprinting, and even sledpushing. The handles are the same on both and they’re designed to accommodate whatever training you’re doing.

The NordicTrack Elite and the NordicTrack X22i differ greatly in the overall design. The NordicTrack Elite has a singular columnlike upright rather than two uprights. This is a new design that we haven’t seen before. It’s functional because it inclines the deck, holds the console, and conceals wires, but the design on the X22i is a bit more stable. We noticed when running and even walking with some users, the deck on the Elite can shift from side to side. This doesn’t happen on the X22i.

Another aspect of the design is that the Elite is about 100 pounds heavier than the X22i. The Elite weighs 505 lbs while the X22i weighs 417 lbs. Neither treadmill folds and they’re hard to move, but they have front transportation wheels in case you need to do so.

The stepup height for the Elite is a lot lower than the X22i, but the Elite just declines to 5% versus 6%. The X22i has a larger 4.0 CHP motor compared to the 3.6 on the Elite. They respond the same to adjustments and are both quick, but the X22i is noticeably quieter.

Overall, the X22i continues to be one of our top recommended treadmills. NordicTrack really nailed it with performance, functionality, and construction. We like the innovation that went into the NordicTrack Elite, but we’re unsure of the longterm durability of this design and would like to see more stability put into the deck to eliminate it shifting from side to side while using. Both treadmills are very impressive, and we like that NordicTrack has added another high inclining treadmill to their solid lineup.
