Noasaurids: Oddball Ceratosaurs

Dr. Polaris

Noasaurids were an unusual family of Ceratosaurs with a slight and patchy presence in the fossil record. Closely related to the Abelisaurids, these animals were quite diverse in terms of ecological niche. The oldest known subfamily, the Elaphrosaurines, were slender, cursorial animals that possessed toothless beaks and superficially resembled Ornithomimosaurs. The Noasaurines on the other hand were small predators with at times a bizarre arrangement of teeth.
