Nilotlot is a term used by my elders of the Bagobo Tribe when it comes to bamboo cooking. They placed giant freshwater prawn/native chicken/wild pig inside the bamboo and mixed with herbs, spices, and coconut milk.
In this video, I used chicken!
I was moved while completing the entire process! Of the traditions that my elders lived by during those times, I was able to incorporate at least this gastronomic food experience through this video.
I realized that this is an environmentfriendly way of cooking. I used lesser kitchen utensils and saved our stored water for dishwashing for future use. Water is available in the community but quite challenging to reach our place.
This traditional way of cooking is truly alive!
