Digging is a natural behavior
Rather than fight Niki's desire to dig let's give her a place to dig.
Start by burying a few treats while she watches. She will dig for them.
Anytime you see her in the pit—praise her .
Reinforced digging in the pit every few days and bury things while she watches. (food, toys, bones)
Good things happened when Niki is in her digging pit.
Anytime you catch Niki digging in an inappropriate place, redirect her to her digging pit.
