The glass elevator Ascent, can operate at up to 50 mph. There are two elevator experiences at SUMMIT One Vanderbilt. One that takes you from the ground floor to the 93rd floor, and the other is the glass elevator Ascent that takes you to the 91st floor.

There are two passenger elevators that provide direct access to the observation deck levels. During regular operation, they automatically run between floors 1, 91 and 93.

Any ordinary elevator in a modern office building can speed you up a quarter mile in a few dozen seconds, smoothly and silently enough that it seems like you’re going nowhere. This one, though, is special: It rattles and thumps (electronically, I trust). Lights flicker, and as a chunkachunka rhythm picks up speed, you suspect you’re on a runaway vertical train about to get shot into the clouds.
