Changes to student visa route will reduce net migration
On 23rd of May 2023, the UK govt announced major changes to the UK student and Student Dependent visa.
New government restrictions on student visa routes will substantially cut net migration by restricting the ability for international students to bring family members on all but postgraduate research routes and banning people from using a student visa as a backdoor route to work in the UK.
So in this video, I will cover the summary of the UK announcement made on 23rd May made by the UK govt(UK Home Office) which covers 5 new updates.

International students will be banned from bringing dependents to the UK with them unless they are on postgraduate research programs like PhD.
This change will come into effect for students starting from Jan 2024

The PostStudy Work visa, allowing graduates to work in the UK for two years after completing their degrees, remains unaffected. However, the dependents of Master's students cannot rely on this visa anymore.
