Professor Emeritus Porter Halyburton provides remarks to U.S. Naval War College (NWC) students, faculty, and staff about his time as a POW and lessons in leadership and ethics April 30, 2024, on board Naval Station Newport, R.I. Halyburton served during the Vietnam War and was forced to eject over North Vietnam while flying his 75th combat mission on October 17, 1965. He was held for 2,675 days then released during Operation Homecoming on February 12, 1973, and was eventually assigned to NWC from 1978 until his retirement in 2006.
