In 1986, the Zabaikalsky National Park was founded on the shores of the bay. This is the youngest park on Baikal. It occupies the western slope of the Barguzinsky Range, the Svyatoy Nos Peninsula, the waters of the Barguzinsky and Chivyrkuisky Bays, and the archipelago of the Ushkany Islands.
