Natural Cat Flea Treatment

When your cat is happy, you're happy. Every once in a while, no matter how hard we try, though, unhappiness sets in or rather move in. Fleas love to move in and make the furry softness of your kitty their home. And once the tiny biters have settled in, no one is happy except the fleas. So, you are going to need to keep the little pests off your cat. But how? With chemicals and toxins?

There must be a better healthierway.

CONTROLLING FLEAS NATURALLY

Sure, it sounds good to say you want a natural way to control your feline's flea problem. But are there any natural pest controls that really work?

Surprisethere are a few natural ways to handle an infestation! Just think, no more buying brand after brand of badsmelling, potentially poisonous flea killer. From now on, if your cat chooses to be stinky and grouchy, it can join the seven dwarfs.

NATURAL FLEA CONTROLS

1. LEMON WATER

Cut two lemons in half. Boil the lemons in two or three cups of water, then allow the lemons to sit in the water for two hours as the water cools. Remove lemons, pour water into a spray bottle, and spritz your cat's fur. As you gently spray the lemon water onto your cat's fur, use your fingers to work it in.

Watch for any signs that the lemon water might be irritating your cat's skin. Redness would be a sign. Spray your cat's fur every now and then until the fleas are completely gone.

If the spray bottle bothers your cat, you can dip a comb in the lemon water and comb the lemon through the cat's fur.

Lemon water is also great to spray on the kitty's bed in order to control bugs there.

2. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

This won't kill the bugs, but boy, do they hate this stuff. If you mix one part apple cider vinegar with one part water and spray your cat, the fleas will vacate the premises. It will take several applications, and you will have to vacuum your home and your animal's bed in order to get rid of the bugs that jumped ship, but they will leave.

3. LAVENDER

Do you enjoy gardening? Perhaps one of the plants you grow is lavender. If so, you are in luck because lavender is a potent bug repellent.

Steep it in water overnight, then spray it on your cat, massaging it into your feline's fur. There have been studies done, and many of these studies showed lavender working as well as a commercial flea repellent. Your cat will smell great, too. Repeat every couple of days or so, and you will be good.

4. SPICE THINGS UP

Grind up rosemary to a powder. Sprinkle the powder where your kitty likes to be in your house.

Or

Mix one teaspoon olive oil with one teaspoon oregano oil

Or

Stir about a teaspoon of cumin into your cat's food.

5. SOAP DOES THE TRICK.

Soap, you may ask. Yep. Dish soap. If you wash your cat with soap that is usually used for dishes, the soap kills fleas. How? By breaking down the bugs' exoskeletons. Lather your pet up, then rinse it.

Another way to use soap is to put a shallow dish of soap near a light. The light often draws the bugs, they hop into the soap, and that's the end of the road for the pest.
