Over the recent years, Namecheap web hosting has become very popular amongst people who are looking for a budget solution to host their websites. With advancements in web hosting technology, it's now possible to have a good service and a cheap price. So, I bought a plan and documented my journey of using Namecheap in this Namecheap review.

The first red flag for me was ERRORS during the purchase process. You would assume that this step should work flawlessly, right? After all, they are trying to take your money. However, the process of buying a web hosting plan was extremely glitchy for me. I've run into errors that didn't let me use all of the features (like a free domain name) that were promised.

Is this done deliberately so you would buy more expensive services from them? Hard to say, but the fact that while making this Namecheap review I've run into like 4 errors in the first few minutes was definitely not a good sign.

What Namecheap seems to be doing is attracting customers with low prices on their marketing material, but making it extremely hard for anyone to take advantage of those offers. A little bit deceptive, but by spending 50% more than I initially thought I bought a Namecheap plan and was ready to continue.

What I've noticed is that Namecheap tries to bill you extra money every step of the way. So, if you come for cheap hosting be prepared to spend more than initially expected.

After buying my plan the troubles didn't stop there. I couldn't use basic functions of my control panel and creating a website was a pain. I had to find workaround solutions just to use basic Namecheap features. However, they do have the standard cPanel that's working ok, even though it looks outdated.

For this Namecheap review, I really wanted to dig into the meat of web hosting the performance. So, I've set up a testing website and launched GTMetrix speed tests as well as K6 cloud stress tests. The results, were quite disappointing.

Namecheap loaded a simple website in 3.2 seconds. That's incredibly slow compared to their competitors. Most web hosting companies load the exact same website in under 2seconds.

I wanted to make sure that it's the web hosting and not my website creation skills that are at fault here. So, I've decided to create the exact same website design, just used another web hosting company Hostinger (which was even cheaper).

Hostinger was TWICE as fast. Showing, just how out of date the technology that Namecheap uses is.

Overall, to conclude this Namecheap review I don't recommend them. Even as a cheap web hosting solution, there are better competitors available. Namecheap is slow, there's a lot of errors and you don't get good value for your money.
