Mystery AC Leak Found 30 Years a First For Me - A New Diagnostic Procedure

It was just stupid luck I had found this leak. I was told by the owner there were six separate attempts to repair this AC system. And now I have a new diagnostic repair tool to add to my arsenal of techniques. I had put a strong die in the AC system in order to leave a finger print on my next visit. I recharged the system and the plan was to let the guys use the equipment and mix the die and let the the die leak out. Next visit I would use an ultra violet light to look for a leaky ultraviolet finger print. Problem was when I was uncoupling my refrigerant charging lines, the AC die splatters everywhere near the fill point. I had to clean up all the splatter so it wouldn't cause a false flag my next visit. I didn't want to be fooled into thinking the dye spots were from a new leak vs me from uncoupling on the prior visit. While spraying all the remnants of AC dye with break clean, a rain storm came rolling in. With that extra added darkness I was able to notice something strange with one of the Air Conditioning lines. Every time I cleaned the line off the die kept magically reappearing. Right in the middle of the hose (not at a crimp, nor a connection joint), there was actually a glowing thumbprint that kept reappearing. The refrigerant was leaking between the layers of the rubber high pressure AC line. The refrigerant wasn't bubbling to the outer layer but rather acting more like a river flowing underground. While cleaning everything up nice and tidy I noticed this one spot on the hose that wouldn't clean up. That is it wouldn't disappear when spraying with brake clean. It disappeared just fine when I wiped it with a cloth rag. I realized the brake clean was leaching the refrigerant up to the top layer. Eureka, I had found the mystery leak!! My guess was the entire first layer was pressurizing and only then the refrigerant was hemorrhaging out but filtering out the die so it wouldn't appear with the ultraviolet light. This is only a guess on my part but don't have any other explanation.
