A late March weekend was my best opportunity to see the super bloom in the California desert before it was gone. I've never seen it before. Once, I was in Death Valley weeks after the peak, and it wasn't the same.
It was tiresome as I spent much of the time driving. I tried to fit in both Carrizo Plain which is midway between San Francisco and LA, and AnzaBorrego farther south and east of San Diego.
But it was totally worth it and memorable. The wildflowers were gorgeous. And I got almost all kinds of weather warmth, cold, sunny, rain downpours, snowfall, hale. The car rocked at night as the winds howled in the desert.
