This is NOT what I would consider a positive birth story so please watch with caution! Although I had a healthy baby and I escaped a cesarean, my surprise gender birth did not go to plan. I thought I was prepared for an unmedicated hospital birth, but that did not work out the way I had hoped and prepared for. With an entire birth course, books, podcasts, and a surplus of natural birth stories under my belt, I still did not manage to leave the hospital without an epidural.

My birth experience catapulted me into learning everything I could about birth. After processing my birth and doing a ton of research, I figured out it wasn't just the epidural I needed to try to avoid. There are so many other interventions that contribute to getting a natural unmedicated birth!

Instead of taking this as a negative, please learn from the things I did and did not do to get the birth experience you want!
