I jumped in the deep end, found fairly inexpensive displays and has my first Art show yesterday. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun sharing my Art with the public. My husband came along to help with set up and take down as well as to take money and make change. At the last minute we decided to sell some of his hand tied fishing flies (both coastal and inland).

I think it’s really important to have a wide range of prices because that way you can hit more of an audience. Some people don’t have a lot to spend and some people have a lot to spend so instead of having everything priced above $50 I think it was important to have items that were priced at five dollars. And in fact those lesser priced items were what sold better., the Christmas ornaments and the jewelry did very well. My husband’s flies is also sold as did some of the vases.

One tactic that worked really well was providing multiple sale discounts. For example my earrings were $10 a set but if people bought more than one set they were eight dollars each. I had several people pick up one pair and when I pointed out the multiple pair discount they immediately went and bought more.
