Recently, a viewer asked me a great question in one of my more popular videos. The question was, "what was your biggest challenge to becoming a corporate attorney?"

Based on the wording of the question, I understood the question as an inquiry about the biggest obstacle on the way to getting the position of a corporate lawyer. But, I think the intention of the question was to understand the obstacles to becoming a "good" corporate lawyer once I had reached the position.

In either case, my answer is the same. I experienced many obstacles in my career as a corporate lawyer, but the biggest challenge to getting the position and mastering the craft was myself. And, that's for two reasons:

1. I was reluctant to commit to diving into the profession
2. I allowed others to influence my level of confidence in my abilities to be successful in the field

Watch the video for more detail and be sure to leave your own questions in the comments! I turn the best ones into videos like the one you just watched. Thanks for joining in.
