Must Have Tool to avoid Buying a Water Damaged RV or Camper

Water Damage is pretty much at the top of the list when it comes to the things that can ruin a camper. And the truth is that almost every camper or rv has gotten water at some point in time, it's just a matter of how much and for how long. Prolonged leaks can lead to mold, rot, and ultimately the destruction of your rv floors, walls and roof. Of course the best way to prevent is to keep up the maintenance on your caulk and seals. However when you're buying a used rv it's not always easy to get a clear picture of how it may have been taken care of over the years. Especially when it's something like water damage that can hide and not become noticeable or visible until it has gotten really bad. We've learned this lesson the hard way, having had renovated an rv with a water damaged slide. We ended up having to rip out and replace the entire slide floor and parts of the walls. It was a project that we wouldn't wish on anybody. And if you have something like this taken to a shop you can expect to pay thousands to have it repaired. In this video we recap an instagram story where we were inspecting some travel trailers to potentially buy and renovate. We got so many questions in instagram about what the tool was we were using to test for moisture with that we decided to make a little more content on it to explain. It's not a fool proof tool and can be a little glitchy at times, but it is a great additional tool to have with you when inspecting Rv's that you might want to renovate or just camp with your family in. The last thing you want to do is sleep in a small space with your family that is potentially full of black mold.
