MonteCarlo is the most famous district of Monaco, to the point of being sometimes confused with the entire country, or considered wrongly as its capital or as a second commune within the principality. The principality's automobile registration plates bear the words "MC" recalling MonteCarlo even though it is an abbreviation of Monaco. RMC (Radio MonteCarlo) bears the name of the district and not that of the country. For car racing, there is the Monaco Grand Prix and the MonteCarlo Rally.
