Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Prevention: SOAR for Native Communities

The SOAR (Stop, Observe, Ask, Respond) for Native Communities model helps those serving Indigenous populations gain a greater understanding of human trafficking and its impact on Native people. This training will include methods for honoring cultural practices while providing support to individuals who have experienced trafficking and ways to strengthen crossjurisdictional relationships to build comprehensive responses. Attendees will learn traumainformed interventions to human trafficking in American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.

Objectives:
1. Discuss historical factors that contribute to the trafficking (bot and sex trafficking) of Indigenous populations.
2. Identify trafficking in Indigenous communities.
3. Provide trafficking resources relevant to Indigenous populations.
4. Describe methods for honoring cultural practices while providing support to individuals who have experienced trafficking.
5. Explain ways to strengthen crossjurisdictional collaborations to build comprehensive responses to trafficking in Indigenous communities.
