Bobby Brown in 1989 won an Album of the Year Award (ST) for his debut solo album "Don't Be Cruel". The award presenters were Don King and Bobby's good friend, boxing legend Mike Tyson. In addition to Bobby's "Don't Be Cruel" album being nominated in that category, the 3 other nominees included: Bobby McFerrin for his album "Simple Pleasures, Al B. Sure! for his debut album "In Effect Mode" and Luther Vandross for his album "Any Love" The awards aired on April 13, 1989.

P.S. Bobby's song 'Rock Wit'cha' on the "Don't Be Cruel"' album is my favorite on the album....
