Mickey Moniak IS NOT Willie Mays -- CRAZY defensive DISASTER at Comerica Park

This was NUTS!!! But first, want to win a baseball signed by AllStar pitcher Michael Lorenzen? Look for my post on Instagram (@zack_hample) because all the details are there. That's also where I'll announce a winner on August 10, 2023. If you're not on Insta, hang tight because I'm gonna do another giveaway soon (for a ball signed by Luis Arraez!) right here on YouTube.

Anyway, let's talk about Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak, shall we? He was the first overall pick of the 2016 draft, and now he's finally getting consistent playing time and crushing it at the plate, but his defense is another story. In this particular game against the Detroit Tigers (which, by the way, took place on July 25, 2023), he was involved in a crazy play that happened with two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning. The Angels were winning, 64, and the Tigers had runners on 2nd and 3rd. That's when Spencer Torkelson slugged a deep fly ball to the warning track in dead center. Moniak drifted back, and all he had to do was catch it to end the game, but he misjudged it and got twisted around and failed in his attempt to make a Willie Maysesque basket catch! The ball bounced over the wall and both runners scored to tie the game and I got a really cool shot of from rightcenter field. Moniak ended up getting the gamewinning hit in the 10th inning, so he somehow ended up being the hero, but WOW. What a wild ride.

As for the rest of the day at Comerica Park, I got to see Shohei Ohtani, snagged three baseballs, and caught up with a few friends, one of whom is a fellow YouTuber named Erynn Johnson. Here's her channel show her some love:

I also got to hang with a future major league pitcher named David Lally who throws 97mph and just completed his freshman year at Notre Dame. Seriously, remember this dude, and in the meantime you can follow him on Insta @davidlallyjr

This video was filmed by Rachel Messbauer (not on social media) and edited by Zac Gutherman (@zg_films). Thanks for watching and get ready for a VERY different video coming next.
