The 2021 Met Gala had a theme of “American Independence” to coincide with the 2021 Costume Institute exhibit titled “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”. Anna Wintour hosted the annual fundraiser in collaboration with Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s Head Curator, as well as with guest cohosts Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, & Naomi Osaka.
