This is a special feature on the Mercedes Benz W124

The W124 was unveiled in 1984 and sold until 1996. As the successor to the iconic W123, it had great shoes to fill. During this time, cars had a longer shelf life and as such, engineers could push the boundaries since they were not hampered as much by time or budgetary constraints. Hence, the W124 is considered to be over engineered and arguably one of the best automobiles ever made.

Planning and development for the W124 began in the late 70s, but despite that being 40 years ago, this car pioneered equipment and tech still being used in cars today such as the SRS airbag and multilink suspension. The W124 has a drag coefficient of 0.26 which still makes it one of the most aerodynamic sedans to date.
