This video covers the torque converter operation, construction, and failures of the Mercedes 722.6 RWD transmission used in many RWD and 4WD vehicles. This transmission is also commonly known as the NAG1 for Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. These transmissions are still offered in 2021 models and arrived on the scene in 1996!! In this video, I cover how this torque converter works, the three paths of oil flow, construction, and failures. I explain detailed hydraulic flow and even use a cutaway valve body to show the operation of the converter related valves. This video is intended to teach a student or a technician the ins and outs of the torque converter for this transmission. Note, this video is assuming that the viewer understands basic torque converter and transmission principles and terminology.
