As a teenager, Brooke Thabit was an avid surfer who loved the ocean. Growing up in South Florida, she was always smiling, always happiest when in the water. Then came a midnight knock at the door that woke her parents with the horrifying news that Brooke had suffered a diving accident. Her spinal cord had been severed and she was paralyzed from the neck down.

Today, this courageous young woman is still smiling. She is an ambassador with Wings for Life working to raise awareness of spinal cord injury, and she is building a career in designing homes to suit the needs of people with mobility problems.
